Six adults and six teens landed on an uninhabited planet, Maarieda. The planned settlement was a lifeboat to save the human species. Maarieda was the best exoplanet for settlement because it was the most Earth like in studies from Earth. It should be no surprise that other planets and moons have life just like simple life on Earth. If just one spore was caught up in the solar wind and landed on a planet with water it would start life there. Why not across the galaxy? Maybe life on Earth traveled here from another star system.
